The importance of emotional intelligence has increasingly been recognised both in school and in life. Research has shown that good emotional intelligence enables children and young people to have more positive, friendly relationships, control their impulses, persist in the face of failure, regulate their moods, and work more effectively towards goals. This course provides a clear practical guide for teachers and support staff, showing them how to promote emotional intelligence and resilience in children. The course includes four informative modules and two tutor-marked assignments to check your understanding. All tutors are experienced counsellors who have training and experience in working with young people.
Study topics include: developing an awareness of feelings; learning how to calm and regulate feelings; learning how to read other people's feelings accurately; team working skills; promoting emotional independence; relationship skills;developing stress management skills in children and young people. Includes all study materials, course textbook, Developing Children's Emotional Intelligence, and full tutorial support.
Students have up to twelve months to complete this course, allowing them to work through the modules at their own pace. On successful completion of the course students are awarded a certificate of course completion.
