Many children and young people suffer high levels of stress at some point during their school-life. This may be caused by family problems, social or peer issues, or school pressures, such as preparing for tests and exams. Over time high levels of stress can lead to anxiety and emotional difficulties. Children vary in their resilience and their ability to cope with stress, but all children can be supported in developing more effective stress management strategies and greater resilience. This course provldes a practical guide for teachers, lecturers and support staff, including many ideas for activities and approaches, as they support children and young people experiencing stress.The course includes four informative modules and two tutor-marked assignments to check your understanding. All tutors are experienced counsellors who have training and experience in working with young people. Study topics include: identifying sources of stress; talking about stress and anxiety; developing effective coping strategies; practical approaches to supporting individuals and groups; addressing stress in school; positive elements of stress;developing stress management skills in children and young people. Includes all study materials, course textbook, Helping Young People to Beat Stress, and full tutorial support. Students have up to twelve months to complete this course, allowing them to work through the modules at their own pace.
