working with challenging parents
All staff working in education occasionally encounter difficult or demanding parents, perhaps parents who are under a great deal of strain or in very difficult family situations, or who have unhelpful ways of relating to others. Such parents may behave aggressively or even violently. This course explores a range of strategies and practical approaches that both teaching and support staff may find help in such situations.
The course includes four informative modules and two tutor-marked assignments to check your understanding. All tutors are experienced educators who have experience of working with parents in educational settings.
Study topics include: understanding difficult and challenging behaviour in parents; handling meetings with difficult parents; defusing aggression; recording key information and events; legal responsibilities; impacts on children and young people; understanding the emotional impact of aggression and threats of violence. Includes all study materials, course textbook, Dealing with Difficult People, and full tutorial support. Students have up to twelve months to complete this course, allowing them to work through the modules at their own pace. On successful completion of the course students are awarded a certificate of course completion. why choose us?
